Wheeler
Reef is located 42 nautical miles E/NE of the coast of Townsville.
And is the best reef dive you'll do on the great barrier reef.
It has been part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park protected
zone for well over 20 years, and is visited by only one or two
boats a week making it a fantastic dive site with pristine corals
and crystal clear water and something of rarity uncrowded dive
sites. Among hundreds of reef fish you can dive with turtles,
manta rays and reef sharks.

Wheeler
Reef has a variety of dives. You can choose to stay
and explore the fringing reef and canyons around the
lagoon or you can head for deeper water, and explore
the bombies and channels that surround the reef starting
in around 12 meters of water and dropping off to 35
plus meters. For the snorkelers Wheeler is fantastic
as you can follow the channels between the reef right
up into the shallows and you'll probably see as much
of this amazing reef as the divers
