Wheeler Reef is located 42 nautical miles E/NE of the coast of Townsville. It has been part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park protected zone for well over 10 years, making it a fantastic dive site with pristine corals and crystal clear water. Among hundreds of reef fish you can dive with turtles, manta rays and reef sharks.
Dive sites
Wheeler Reef has a variety of dives. You can choose to stay around 10 meters and explore the fringing reef walls and canyons, or you can go bombie hoping at around 20 meters. For the more adventurous you can dive to 35 meters into the outer channels.
