Our kids’ scuba programs are designed to be fun, safe and educational—helping young adventurers build confidence, stay active and develop a love for the ocean. Whether they want to blow bubbles in the pool or start their journey toward becoming a certified diver, we’ve got the perfect experience for every age and skill level!
A Note for Parents
At Pleasure Divers, we love helping young ocean-lovers take their first steps into the underwater world. Every child is different, so we work with you to choose the best scuba experience for their age, confidence and ability. A FUN FIRST TASTE OF SCUBA
A Try Scuba session is an exciting introduction to scuba diving—no ocean, no deep water, just pure fun in a shallow training pool! Under the guidance of a friendly instructor, kids get to try breathing underwater and play games in a safe, relaxed setting. Perfect for sparking curiosity!

SSI EXPLORER PROGRAM

A WEEKLY DIVE CLUB FOR YOUNG LOCALS & LONG-TERM VISITORS
The SSI Explorer Program introduces kids to simple scuba skills—all in a pool-based setting. It’s a structured, progressive way to learn and grow as a young diver, building confidence week by week! Let the programs characters Emma, Nico, Star, Spike and Shelley guide your young adventurer through weekly missions that promote new knowledge, expose them to new equipment and help them understand the ocean environment.

INTRODUCTORY OCEAN DIVE

TAKE YOUR FIRST REAL DIVE
For kids 12 and over who are ready to experience scuba in the ocean, our Introductory Dive is the perfect next step! After a detailed briefing and practice session, they’ll head out off the beach for their first-ever ocean shore dive, exploring the incredible underwater world of Magnetic Island.
Note: This is not a kids-only program—participants may be in a small group with adults.

SCUBA DIVER COURSE

A STEPPING STONE TO FULL CERTIFICATION
The Scuba Diver Course is a shortened version of the Open Water Course, designed for the youngest divers. With half a day of pool training and just two ocean dives, kids can earn a Scuba Diver certification, allowing them to dive up to 12m under instructor supervision.

Minimum 2 participants. (Note: a parent who is a certified diver can enrol as a participant. It’s a really thorough refresher and the instructor can work with you on how to be a great buddy for your young child)

10 min float test
200m swim: If your child cannot swim 200m continuously without stopping to rest, please practice before enrolling in the scuba course.

Depending on their developmental growth and progress, somewhere between 12-14yrs children can upgrade to the Open Water licence allowing them to dive to 18m with an equally qualified buddy (ie no instructor supervision required). To upgrade, participants must complete the remaining pool sessions, 2 more ocean training dives and the full Open Water examination.

JUNIOR OPEN WATER DIVER

THE ULTIMATE CERTIFICATION FOR YOUNG DIVERS
The Junior Open Water Diver Course is the real deal—a full certification program, just like the adult version, but with kid-friendly instruction and slower pacing to suit young learners. Kids will be qualified to dive up to 12m or 18m (depending on age) with a buddy of equal training.
Automatic Upgrade: Once they turn 15, their certification automatically converts to an adult Open Water Diver licence—no need to re-do the course!
